APRM: Wrist and Hand Pain 6

Do Wrist and Hand Exercises to Strengthen Ligaments

hand exerciser

When your wrist feels better, begin hand and wrist resistance exercises.  This is important because resistance exercises cause ligaments and muscles to thicken and get stronger.

Since the hands are used mostly for gripping, which is finger flexion, it is important to exercise extension of the fingers (muscles that straighten out the fingers).  This balances muscle strength between the top and bottom of your wrist, making it stronger.  I highly recommend the Manus Physical Therapy Hand Exerciser device (shown above) which does a great job.

Keep at your desk, and do 10-12 repetitions every couple of hours.
