How to Eliminate Shoulder Pain

How to Eliminate Shoulder Pain

The shoulder joint has the widest range of motion of all the joints in the human body.  Because of this, some stability is sacrificed, making the shoulder joint more susceptible to injury.

The most common source of shoulder pain in the population is sprains and strains – the partial or complete tear of ligaments or tendons.  This can be caused by a single-event injury or repetitive stress to the joint (baseball pitcher, tennis player, etc.).  Rotator cuff injuries are a common type of shoulder sprain/strain.

The shoulder joint capsule and cartilage can tear as well.  If serious enough, arthroscopic surgery is usually required to repair it.

If the ligament used to raise the arm from the side gets impinged under the acromion process of the scapula, it can severely restrict shoulder range of motion, sometimes referred to as frozen shoulder.

Inflammation of the bursa, a frictionless pad inside the shoulder, can also cause shoulder pain and stiffness.  This is called  bursitis of the shoulder.

This video course demonstrates self-care techniques that can be used to treat and resolve shoulder pain.  Some of them require assistance.
